Hi and Welcome! I am so excited and nervous to meet you. I am a Family Nurse Practitioner, Mom, Wife, Friend and Wine Enthusiast. This Blog is mostly about being a Nurse Practitioner because I know I have the BEST job in the world! Not only do I get to build relationships with people everyday, I have the honor and privilege of being able to celebrate with patients when life is going well and show up and try to help when life and health are a struggle.
I am married to the absolute love of my life! He supports me unconditionally in everything I do – from nursing school (read my first post), to parenting, to traveling and even into this blog. We are in the process of raising 2 tremendous, adventuresome, funny, creative and caring kiddos. I’m going to limit myself to sharing only briefly about our kids for 2 very good reasons: 1. Their story is their’s to tell and 2. Once I get started talking about my kids, it is hard to get me to SHUT UP!
I am the youngest and perhaps bossiest of 4 kids – however, I think that’s a pretty close call! Our Mom likes to say “I had 4 chiefs.” My family created the backdrop of unconditional love, arguing, laughing and celebrating that I grew up with and helped shape me into the woman I am today.
My daily work life is made oh so much better because I work with Medical Assistants, Patient Reps, Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants and Nurses along with a myriad of other folks. These are my peeps and without their friendship, encouragement, care, compassion and most of all HUMOR – I would not be able to make it through the day. In and among this cast of characters are the patients – who entrust their care to US. That is an AWESOME and HUMBLING responsibility. I am fortunate that I get to laugh with my patients everyday – we see the absurdity in life and each of our struggles. On the flip side of this, I am also lucky enough to be able to shed tears with my patients. In this mix up of emotional connection is where the beauty and true joy of my work lies. That is what I hope to share with you along the way.
Cheers – Jaymey
